Thirty years of exceptional orthodontic care
Dr. Neil Gorin is an orthodontic specialist who has been practicing in Brooklyn and Lynbrook, New York, for over thirty years.
Dr. Gorin was one of 24 students, selected from thousands, to attend the prestigious School of Dental Medicine at Stony Brook University, where he received his DDS degree.
He completed his postgraduate orthodontic training at the University of Maryland, after which he was invited to be the first Associate Professor in the Division of Orthodontic Technology.
Dr. Gorin's exceptional compassion towards patients and families, particularly those requiring additional understanding and care, is a cornerstone of his practice. He is always approachable and ready to assist, ensuring that every patient feels valued and supported.
Professional Achievements
Dr. Gorin successfully completed the certification process of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) and was awarded Diplomate status after passing the Board examination.
Certification by the American Board of Orthodontics is a voluntary process that involves an extensive review of an orthodontist’s academic background and a rigorous assessment of clinical expertise.
Dr. Gorin completed this demanding process at a time when fewer than 2,200 orthodontists worldwide had achieved Diplomate status, reflecting his commitment to excellence in the science and practice of orthodontics.
The American Board of Orthodontics is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association.
Educated initially as an engineer, his advanced training in physics, mechanics, mathematics, material science, and force and stress analysis, combined with his specialty training in dentistry, affords Dr. Gorin a unique perspective of orthodontic practice.
While attending the University of Maryland, Dr. Gorin developed the mathematical model and wrote the computer code that orthodontists now use to analyze x-rays instantly – a process that used to take hours of painstaking labor. The recognition of Dr. Gorin's software as a research tool and clinical aid was instrumental in computerizing the orthodontic postgraduate department at the University of Maryland.
Keeping Up With New Technology
Dr. Gorin is a member of several professional associations and societies. To stay current, he has developed special interests in adult orthodontic therapy, facial aesthetics, cosmetic dentistry, combined orthodontic/surgical treatment, orthodontic skeletal anchorage systems (TAD's), Accelerated Osteogenic OrthodonticsTM, WilckodonticsTM, pre-prosthetic orthodontic preparation, dento-facial orthopedics, and traditional adolescent orthodontic therapy.
